Our Story
Teratai Adil was founded in Kuala Lumpur by a small group of legal practitioners who had each spent years working in estate and succession law. What brought them together was a shared observation: families dealing with inheritance matters rarely needed aggressive advocacy. More often, they needed someone to sit with them, explain what was happening, and move at a human pace.
The name Teratai — the lotus — was chosen deliberately. In many cultures across this region, the lotus represents something that grows steadily from still water, unhurried and purposeful. Adil reflects our commitment to fairness in everything we do.
Since opening our office on Jalan Maarof, we have supported hundreds of families through estate planning, probate filings, and the occasional disputed inheritance. In each case, our measure of success is not speed alone, but whether the family involved felt heard, understood, and well served throughout.

Legal Practice for Inheritance Matters in Malaysia
Estate and succession law in Malaysia involves a number of distinct frameworks depending on the deceased's religion, the nature of the assets involved, and whether a valid will exists. For non-Muslim estates, the Probate and Administration Act 1959 governs how estates are administered through the High Court or, for smaller estates, through the Small Estates (Distribution) Act 1955 via the Land Office.
Muslim estates in Malaysia follow a different path, with distribution governed by Faraid principles under Islamic law and administered through the Amanah Raya Berhad or the Syariah courts where applicable. Our team works within both frameworks and advises clients according to their specific circumstances.

A brief consultation is often enough to establish the right direction — one that accounts for the assets involved, the wishes of the deceased, and the relationships among those who stand to benefit.
